During the summer tourist season, the Julian Alps are one of the busiest areas in Slovenia. To reduce traffic congestion, we encourage the use of public transport. From the train station to your final destination or tourist attraction you can travel with seasonal local shuttle services and two cross-border bus lines. Our partner, the Posoški razvojni center is coordinating the public transport system in the Soča Valley this year too and is partly providing the funding for the implementation. The Tolmin-Čedad (Cividale del Friuli) bus service (4 times daily) and the Most na Soči-Tolmin-Kobarid-Bovec-Predel Pass-Trbiž (Tarvisio)-Kranjska Gora railway station service are being implemented with funding from the ADRIONCYCLETOUR strategic project.
As part of this project, the leaflet SUMMER TIMETABLE – CYCLING ALONG THE BOHINJ RAILWAY has just been published and is available in Slovene-English and Slovene-Italian versions.
There is an additional offer of bike transportation on the Bohinj Railway this summer season:
- up to 20 bicycles on regular trains,
- up to 24 bicycles on the car-train,
- 4 trains per day have enlarged bicycle compartment for up to 60 bicycles (morning and early morning trains on the Sežana-Jesenice route and late afternoon and evening trains on the Jesenice-Nova Gorica route).
ADRIONCYCLETOUR is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund under the Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia 2021-2027 programme.
