Project highlights
The monitoring platform is available!
RuralMED Mobility has reached an important milestone with the launch of its monitoring platform, developed by CIMNE. The platform is already collecting data from the project’s pilot actions on charging sessions, vehicle use, availability of shared EVs and estimated CO₂ emission reductions, helping public authorities better understand the impact of electric mobility solutions in rural areas.

Italian pilot is officially launched in Suzzara
On 3 November, the Municipality of Suzzara and Consorzio Oltrepò Mantovano inaugurated a free electric car-sharing service for local residents within the RuralMED Mobility project. The pilot includes two
electric vehicles and two charging points, and will operate free of charge until the end of 2026. Usage data will feed the platform to assess its impact.

Training public staff on e-mobility in Greece
On 20 November, a training workshop for public staff was held in Western Macedonia, Greece, organised by CERTH and RDFWM. The session covered key aspects of e-mobility, from technologies and safety to legislation, funding and infrastructure planning, strengthening local capacity to design and manage sustainable mobility solutions in rural areas.

Three new charging stations in Extremadura, Spain
The Spanish pilot has completed the installation of all planned infrastructure. Three EV charging stations are now in place in Coria, Cilleros and Perales del Puerto and will start operating in January. In addition, two electric vehicles will be made available in the following weeks under a carsharing system for residents. This pilot will help test the viability of these services in rural areas of Extremadura.

Portuguese pilot progressing in Alto Alentejo
The Alto Alentejo pilot is moving forward, with electric vehicles, charging stations and a fleet monitoring and management platform already contracted and under configuration by CIMAA and AREANATejo. The next step will be the launch of a shared mobility platform for public entities, aiming to optimise routes, reduce costs and improve accessibility for dispersed rural communities.

Promotional events
REA North presented RuralMED Mobility at the Urban Forum ‘Perspectives of Sustainable Cities’ held in Zagreb, where the project was showcased as a key example of how e-mobility solutions can address transport gaps in rural areas. The presentation highlighted the pilot in Koprivnica-Križevci County, focused on deploying EV charging infrastructure and generating data to support replication in other regions.
Partners RDFWM and CERTH held an information session in Amyntaio, Greece, to present the progress of the RuralMED pilot and promote electric mobility in rural areas. The event included awareness-raising activities and a live demonstration of EV charging, reinforcing local engagement and visibility of the project’s actions.
The project was also showcased during the Interreg Cooperation Day event organised by AGENEX in Badajoz, with the collaboration of AREANATejo. The open-air activity engaged around 350 schoolchildren through hands-on workshops focused on sustainable energy and clean mobility, including the construction of solar-powered cars or demonstrations of hydrogen-based mobility using a bicycle. The event reinforced awareness of innovative and low-emission mobility from an early age.
RAUSK promoted RuralMED Mobility at the 21st International Ecology Fair EKOBIS 2025 in Bihać, Bosnia & Herzegovina, engaging more than 200 visitors over three days. Through a dedicated stand and project presentation, the event helped raise awareness of sustainable mobility solutions for rural areas and foster dialogue with institutions, businesses and other stakeholders.
Consorzio Oltrepò Mantovano participated as an external stakeholder in the SMAPE project meeting organised by the Province of Mantua, sharing the experience of RuralMED in promoting electric mobility in rural contexts. The exchange highlighted synergies between projects, particularly around shared mobility planning tools and the e-mobility station implemented in Suzzara.
