Nova Gorica, 23 June 2023 – In the framework of the ADRIONCYCLETOUR project, the Youth and Mobility in the Alps event brought together young representatives of the Yoalin project and invited guests to discuss rail connections, which should form the backbone of sustainable tourism in the region.

YOUTH AND MOBILITY IN ALPS was the title of today’s event to promote the pilot service “BIKE TO TRAIN”. The event also focused on the importance of rail connections for sustainable mobility and the development of greener tourism in the Alps.

Young participants of the YOALIN project (a CIPRA project initiative) from several European countries, who cycled through the Gorizia and Nova Gorica conurbation before the event, presented the wishes and needs of the young generation in relation to public transport and cross-border connectivity. They highlighted the difficulties they encountered in mobility: from congestion, to lack of information, to obstacles in crossing the border between Slovenia and Italy, etc.

The event, organised by the Posočje Development Centre, the RDA of Gorenjska – BSC Kranj and the Regione Friuli Venezia Giulia within the framework of the ADRIONCYCLETOUR project, was attended by representatives of Slovenian Railways, Trenitalia, municipalities from both sides of the border, EGTC GO, Tourism Bohinj, the Alpine Convention and CIPRA.

ADRIONCYCLETOUR is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund under the Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia 2021-2027 programme.
